Toyota recently unveiled the first in its new lineup of battery electric vehicles: the bZ4X concept. This all-electric crossover is a good indicator of Toyota's future with alternative energy vehicles. The brand plans on converting up to 40 percent of its portfolio to BEVs and plug-in hybrids by 2025. This commitment means that the world will see 70 new Toyota models debut, including seven bZ models. The "bZ" name stands for "beyond zero" emissions and shows how committed Toyota is to carbon neutrality. Learn more about this electric car and the other hybrids we offer here at Toyota of Clovis.

Making Great Strides Towards the Future

While only a prototype, much of the bZ4X's design and powertrain will get incorporated into future models. This electric crossover shares much of its design with the hybrid Venza, only with sharper exterior design accents. The interior cabin offers lots of comforts and a more driver-centric design in the cabin. When you sit down behind the wheel, you notice the dashboard monitors remain at eye level. The controls on the console and dashboard are also lower, so they remain in hand's reach. This driver-centric cabin reduces distraction and increases safety.

The bZ4X is a battery-electric vehicle (BEV), the first of its kind from Toyota. Toyota plans on creating six more vehicles like the bZ4X. All-electric crossover, like this one, will come standard with all-wheel-drive. This drivetrain is already a standard feature of Toyota hybrids and plug-in electrics. This electronic AWD adds a second electric motor to help increase torque output to both axles.
